A 30-year-old woman from Uckfield is in a critical condition in hospital after falling from her motorcycle in Maresfield this morning (Friday October 25).

Emergency services were called to the scene in the High Street shortly after 7am and the woman was airlifted to Southampton Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police have appealed for witnesses to the incident and are trying to establish if another vehicle was involved.

Inspector Steve Grace from Sussex Police’s Road Policing Unit said: “We are looking at the possibility that the woman was struck by a passing vehicle after she had fallen from her machine, but if that was the case it would appear that it was not noticed by the driver who carried on.

“We want to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident including a woman who stopped at the scene, but left without giving her details. We’d also like to hear from any driver who was passing through Maresfield High Street around the time of the incident and may have noticed a bump, but dismissed it, not recognising what had happened.”
