FIREFIGHTERS who lost their lives during the Twin Towers attacks in New York 9/11 will be remembered by their fellow professionals from Hailsham during a big race in the Big Apple.

Fire crew staff from Hailsham Community Fire Station will join other colleagues from across the world for the ‘Tunnel to Towers Race’ being held in New York to remember the 343 dead firefighters on September 25.

The race was set up by the family of an off-duty NY firefighter, Stephen Siller, who lost his life after returning to the Twin Towers to help his colleagues.

Hailsham crew taking part are: Steve Blunt, Ali Burton, Tim Brown, Mark Farley, Michael Holloway and Jason Hull.

The crew will cross the Atlantic along with Nikki Brown from service headquarters in Eastbourne and her daughter Kim, and they will all take part in the race in aid of The Fire Fighters Charity.
