An Uckfield-based singing group has raised more than £2,000 for charity after several public performances in the run-up to Christmas.
Singers from inChoir performed at Wakehurst Place, in The Orchards Shopping Centre in Haywards Heath, in Crawley’s County Mall, in The Pantiles in Tunbridge Wells and around 150 members also travelled to Bath for a weekend to entertain shoppers at the Bath Christmas Market.
A different charity was chosen for each performance, and beneficiaries included Barnados, Demelza House Children’s Hospice, The Motor Neurone Disease Association, and Children in Need, for whom they raised over £1,000.
“The men and women in inChoir have such a lot of fun singing in such a variety of places,” said Karen O’Connor, “that it made sense to use the opportunity to raise some money for people less fortunate than ourselves. We’ve been absolutely thrilled with the generosity of our audiences.”
inChoir is a singing group performing a wide range of uplifting modern songs which is open to anybody who likes to sing; there is no audition, no need to read music, and there is no need to sing solo.
In total during 2013 inChoir raised, or helped to raise, over £13,000 for local charitable causes.
