Uckfield’s Filipino-British community and townsfolk came out last Sunday evening to support a fundraiser event for the Haiyan-Yolanda typhoon victims in the Philippines.
The event was hosted by St Philips Church, Uckfield, where visitors were welcomed by co-ordinator Anne Heyrana Iral, church leader Fr Stephen and Uckfield Mayor Ian Smith.
An emotional thank-you message was also given by Lorinda Caiña for the support that Uckfield people have given to the people of the Philippines since this tragic disaster. Delicious food was cooked and supplied by the local Filipino community.
Italian resident Roberto Tedesco gave an Italian pasta dish. Musical attractions included Filipino performances by Caiña and Cagoco families plus Paula and the boys, country gospel duo, Raymond Whiteway-Roberts and Graham Sharp and an impressive performance by ukulele band ‘El Banda Burros’ which got everyone line dancing and jiving.
