Three village primary schools in the Heathfield area have formed a partnership to foster collaborative working between teachers and pupils.
Dallington Church of England Primary School has teamed up with the Woodlands Federation which comprises Punnetts Town Community Primary School and Broad Oak Community Primary School. Shirley Frankis has been appointed executive head teacher across the three schools with each having its own head of school. Jenny Swan is head for Broad Oak, Will Bentall at Punnetts Town and Paul Cox at Dallington.
Mrs Frankis said: “It makes good sense for the three schools to come together in this way for the benefit of both staff and pupils. We can share teaching expertise, resources and facilities and provide an even better education to our pupils. We think that it is important that communities retain their own schools and this is one way of supporting this.
Staff from the schools took part in a team building day at the end of the holidays to get to know each other better. One activity involved an orienteering course to find clues which led them to build a bike, trike or scooter. Completed equipment has been presented to local pre-schools.
