UPDATE: Hailsham man seriously injured in A22 crash

A 40-year-old man has suffered serious head injuries after an accident on the A22 near Hailsham last night (March 17).

The accident took place at around 7.15pm near the K2 Indian restaurant and involved a black Ford Focus and a green Range Rover.

Both cars were travelling south when the collision took place. The Ford left the road and struck a tree stump before rebounding onto the road.

Its driver, a 40-year-old Hailsham man, was thrown from the car suffering serious head and internal injuries.

He was taken by ambulance to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton,

The Range Rover driver, a 37-year-old man from Lower Dicker, was unhurt.

The A22 was closed southbound between the Arlington Eagles and Cophall roundabouts until the early hours of this morning (March 18).
