VIDEO: Fallen power cable causes traffic chaos

A fallen power cable on one of the county’s busiest roads caused travel chaos yesterday (Sunday, July 5).

The A27 in Lewes was closed and there were lengthy delays around the Ashcombe roundabout and Southerham roundabout because of a fallen power cable.

Queues of traffic built up along the A27 and diversions were put in place.

Police were called to the scene shortly before 9am and motorists are advised to find alternative routes if possible.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said UK Power Network was at the scene attempting to fix the issue.

The closure also caused disruption to Brighton and Hove Bus Company’s 28 and 29 service.
