Shaun Saunders spoke of the pride he has in his team after Peacehaven effectively sealed the county league title with a win over Shoreham on Tuesday night.
The Tye won 2-0 thanks to first half goals from Craig Bunch and Rob O’Toole.
That result, plus East Preston’s 1-1 draw with Selsey, means only Redhill can now match Peacehaven’s points total – and their goal difference is so vastly inferior to the Tye’s that they would need to see a 30-goal swing in the two sides’ last two games.
The Sussex Express were at the Sports Park on Tuesday night to see Peacehaven get “one hand and four fingers” on the title – as ‘Haven boss Saunders put it – and also to witness some of the post-match celebrations.
We also spoke to the Peacehaven manager about the long season the team have had and how Saunders would manage his squad ahead of the Tye’s John O’Hara League Cup Final against Littlehampton Town on Friday May 10 (at Culver Road, KO 7.30pm according to SCFL website).
