Watch here for reaction from the Lewes and Peacehaven management teams following Saturday’s entertaining FA Cup tie, where the Rooks came from behind twice to win 3-2 at Piddinghoe Avenue.
Lewes manager Garry Wilson said: “We never helped ourselved with our performance in the first half but I think second half we definitely deserved to win the game.”
His assistant, Danny Bloor, put the change in Rooks’ fortunes – when a disappointing first half was followed by a much-improved second period – down to the appearance of Matt Crabb and Ade Olorunda from the substitutes’ bench.
Peacehaven manager Shaun Saunders meanwhile highlighted the contentious late penalty decision – when referee Stacey Woodley ruled Tye’s Connor Jones had handled in the box – as the moment that cost his side a deserved replay.
Saunders described the decision as “bitterly disappointing” but hailed his troops, saying he “couldn’t have asked for any more” from his Ryman South outfit against the visitors from one division above.
