Lewes Police took to Facebook and Twitter to warn drivers of the closure, adding that the area is ‘impassable even in 4x4 vehicles’.

The B2112 South Street, in Ditchling, is also blocked in both directions at the Beacon Road junction because of flooding.

Surface water is being reported on Ashcombe Lane in Kingston, at The Street junction.

Motorists are being asked to take extra care when travelling and avoid the areas mentioned above.
