CELEBRATING the transition from primary to secondary school, hundreds of schoolchildren took part in Lewes’ annual Moving On Parade today (Friday July 6).

A light drizzle failed to dampen the children’s spirits as up to 16 primary schools in the Lewes district took to the streets in fancy dress.

Celebrating the forthcoming Olympics, this year’s theme was ‘Let the Games Begin’ and the children worked with local artists to make sculptures and costumes that were truly spectacular.

After the parade through Lewes town centre, the children were treated to a well deserved party in The Paddock where bands from Starfish performed and joined in the celebrations.
