SLIDESHOW: Sussex Horse Rescue gala closing day
CROWDS packed Hempstead Farm for a Sussex Horse Rescue gala day on Saturday to mark the Trust’s closure for the winter.
The Trust has been open to visitors every Sunday since Easter and this gave people a final chance this year to meet ponies, donkeys, goats, sheep and peacocks who call the Farm their home. People also had the chance to sample barn teas, a gift shop, enjoy pony rides and the opportunity to sponsor their own rescue animal.
The Trust is currently home to 104 equines, plus lots of other animals and birds. A special event on Saturday was a demonstration by East Sussex Fire and Rescue’s animal rescue team who demonstrated their skill. Trust founder Pauline Grant said: “Due to the skill and experience of these dedicated men and women many animals’ lives have been saved.”
The Trust re-opens to the public at Easter, 2013.
