SLIDESHOW: Visitors pour in for Telscombe’s special weekend
ABOUT 1,500 people enjoyed a firework display at the culmination of a weekend, which included working horses on Telscombe Tye and a chance to visit historic buildings in Telscombe village.
The Friends of Telscombe Tye, with the help of Telscombe Town Council, brought back working horses and visitors could have a ride in a horse and cart.
Added attractions included owls, morris dancers, children’s activities, environmental groups and a barbecue.
For the Heritage Festival, the Stud Farm, St Laurence Church and Telscombe Village Club could be visited as part of The National Heritage Open Days and the Village Club hosted an art and craft fair on the green.
Deputy clerk to Telscombe Town Council Stella Newman said there were tea and cakes in the hall but the event was so popular the cakes ran out.
“The weather was perfect and the crowds came out,” she said. “In the evening there was a firework display for 20 minutes and there were about 1,500 people there.”
