TELEPHONE KIOSK: Last Thursday, the parish council discussed the renovation of the telephone kiosk situated outside the Yew Tree in Arlington Village. SPEEDWATCH: Volunteers are needed for Speedwatch. Using speed monitoring devices so speeding through Upper Dicker can be reported to the police. If you would like to help please contact Frank Coward [email protected]

WHIST DRIVE: On Thursday, in Berwick Village Hall starting at 7.15pm there will be a Whist Drive.

HOME GROUP: The Arlington Home Group will meet on Monday between 7.30pm and 8.30pm at Pickhams, Hayreed Lane, Arlington. For details, please contact 01323 871148

ROADWORKS: Up to July 29, there will be roadworks from the Yew Tree public house to outside Crowbore House. This will involve some 185 metres of ductwork and probably a road closure.

YOGA: The Yoga class is held every Monday in Arlington Village Hall from 3pm to 4.15pm. It is open to all levels as the yoga taught here can be adapted to suit most individual needs and abilities. Since starting the class in 2015, there is now a group of a dozen regulars who have made steady progress. It is enjoyable, informative and fun. To book email [email protected]

ARTS GROUP: There will be a regular Art Session on Thursday between 7pm and 9pm in Arlington Village Hall, no need to book, bring your own materials and project. BERWICK PARISH COUNCIL: The next meeting is the full council meeting on Thursday at 7.30pm in Berwick Village Hall. Members of the public and the press are cordially invited to attend. http://berwickparishcouncil.org/

ARLINGTON PARISH COUNCIL: A full council meeting will not be held in August, although a Planning Meeting may be required should major applications be received. The next full council meeting will be held on September 15 in Arlington Village Hall.

VINTAGE TEA PARTY: Tomorrow, Saturday, in Upper Dicker Village Hall from 2.30pm to 5.30pm there will be a Vintage Tea Party event to raise funds for a memorial window in the village hall dedicated to Caroline Payne-Rippengal. There will be light refreshments of strawberries and cream, scones etc.

CREATIVE MARQUEE: On August 6 and 13, between 10.30am and 4pm, as part of Arts Week at Pickhams (Hayreed Lane, off Baileys Lane between Wilmington and Arlington) there will be a Creative Marquee. Come and be inspired by the beautiful surroundings, art and garden sculpture trail to paint, make mosaic, write poetry or prose or to create your own short film. Find out all about the local events to come in September for the Hailsham Festival of Arts and Culture and enter some of the free festival competitions. Donations to festival funds. PRODUCE SHOW: On August 27 there will be a produce show held on the Berwick Playing Field.

FLOWER SHOW: Arlington and Upper Dicker Produce and Flower Show is on Saturday September 3 starting at 3 pm in Arlington Village Hall. There will be classes for vegetables, fruit, flowers, flower arranging, cookery, children’s classes and craftwork. Programme with entry form will be in August issue of Dicker Links.

LIONS DOG SHOW: On Sunday September 25 in Upper Dicker Village Hall, there will be a dog show taking place throughout the day. Further details will follow.
