Barcombe

PARISH COUNCIL: Recreation Ground: The children's play area and the car park toilet block have both been steam cleaned. The provision of a hard-surfaced path along the southern edge of the recreation ground was discussed during the PC's March meeting. A new path would link Grange Road to Wild About Barcombe, providing all-seasons access for existing users and opening the area to the whole community. Cost and design is under investigation. Dog Mess: The parish council is particularly concerned about the attitude of a minority of dog owners. Replacement signs at entrances to the recreation ground will encourage owners and walkers to clear up after their dog, and to keep their animal(s) on a lead near children. With a little public-spirited co-operation the rec can be a safe, pleasant place for all. Clean for the Queen: Councillor Marler recorded the parish council's formal thanks to the WI for their work in organising and undertaking the village's Clean for the Queen day. A very worthwhile effort by all concerned which produced a noticeable improvement in and around the parish. Thank you. Barcombe Mills: East Sussex County Council confirmed that if the Parish Council were to pay for the installation of flood warning signs, any liability caused by sign failure would rest with the Parish Council. Consequently the project will not be pursued. A very regrettable outcome.
