DEFIBRILLATOR: Next Saturday, July 30, Age UK Burwash and Burwash Weald invite you to go along to the Burwash Village Hall for training in the use of the defibrillator that is mounted on the wall outside the hall. The session starts at 10am and goes on until noon. Do go along, you will find it interesting and one day you might just be able to save someone’s life.

FLOWER SHOW: Also next Saturday, July 30, Burwash Horticultural Society will be holding their summer flower and veg show. Schedules are available from the flower shop and should be returned by mid-day on Thursday if you wish to enter. There are classes for all the family to get involved in, with baking floral art and photography too, all with a Royal theme. If you have never entered before, then give it a go this year. Just pop in to the flower shop for a schedule and see what the classes are.

BATEMAN’S: With the school holiday’s approaching my guess is you will be wondering how to entertain the children for the next six weeks. Why not take them to Bateman’s and let them join the Jungle Book trail. The jungle book characters are hidden around the garden, follow the trail and find them all to win jungle prizes. This will take place daily from today until September 6. Normal admission costs plus £2.50. Call 01435 882302

SHAVE: On Sunday July 31, my lovely brave friend Davina Swaine will be having her head shaved. The Brave Shaver will take place to raise money Macmillan Nurses. Please get involved and sponsor her in this amazingly selfless act. There are sponsor forms in The Stores or you can donate by going to her Brave Shaver page. I will bring more details about the actual shave next week.

FAIR: Plans are already underway for the annual summer fair which as usual will be held on August Bank Holiday Monday. All clubs societies and charities are reminded they need to book a pitch if they wish to take part. This is a great way to make money for your cause. To book a pitch and discover how much they are, please call Steve Mintram on 01435 882444.

GOOD LUCK: As the school summer term draws to a close, many of the pupils will be looking forward to a new chapter in their lives. Some will start at primary school saying goodbye to their pre-school or nursery. Older children will begin their next few years at the secondary educational colleges. The senior teenagers will be going on to colleges and university. Whatever they have in store for them we wish them all a great summer and good luck when they begin new schools in September. I expect there will be many tears shed this week as they say goodbye to old friends and teachers.
