VILLAGE SHOW SOCIETY: Spring Show, Saturday April 2. The show society held a very successful Spring Show this year despite difficult growing conditions over the winter. There were particularly strong entries for the daffodils and narcissi, cookery and children's classes. The village hall looked lovely with all the exhibits on show and the judges were very impressed with the quality of the entries.

Prize Winners. Turner Cup, best exhibit overall, Pat Duke for her decorative exhibit flower arrangement, A Sporting Event; Moore Tankard, most points in the daffodil/narcissi classes, Jonathan Walker; Cookery Trophy, best cookery exhibit, Jonathan Walker; Payne Trophy, best exhibit in decorative division, Pat Duke; Naomi Barlow Award, best exhibit in handicraft division, M Cowper; Junior Challenge Cup, best exhibit in the junior classes, Leo Tarry.

Dates for your diary. The Autumn Show is on Saturday September 3. We look forward to a good entry again especially for the fruit and vegetable sections. Plot holders take note: On Friday May 13 there will be an illustrated talk on Dahlias at 7.30pm in the village hall and on Thursday June 9 there will be a visit to Sissinghurst.
