KNITTING GROUP: Knit’Inn Nights at The King’s Head. The last meeting in March was an interesting exchange of views and experiences. Everyone was enthusiastic about the current projects, a varied collection of colour work, and textured knitting but almost everyone was deviating from their pattern. This lead on to discussion about pattern sources. There are pattern books and magazines, and nowadays almost anything can be found on the internet, but if they do not always meet every criteria some creative thinking must be employed. With a bit of skill, elements can be taken from more than one pattern and put together to create a totally unique piece. Add in the great choice of yarn available and the original pattern may not even be discernible in the finished article. The meetings in April will be Tuesday April 12 and 26 at 7.30pm. Everyone welcome, no fees or obligation. Information from Su(07552229473).

HAILSHAM FM RADIO: Hailsham FM broadcasters took to the town’s shopping centre on Good Friday to join in the Easter fun. With the station’s mascot, Micky Marconi, they handed out Easter eggs to shoppers, while promoting the programmes being broadcast over the bank holiday. Young children just couldn’t resist hugging Marconi and giving him a high five as their parents were interviewed by Pat Bradley for live transmission on Simon Herbert’s show. The radio station extended their usual weekend broadcasting over Easter time and could be heard for four days instead of the usual two, when it broadcasts from 7am on Saturday through to 10pm on Sunday via their website www.hailshamfm.uk or TuneIn. Programmes are also uploaded onto Mix Cloud which can also be accessed via the website. Hailsham FM is a community station run by volunteers. It has broadcast three times in support of the Hailsham Festival of Arts and Culture for consecutive Septembers from 2013. The station is now awaiting the outcome of an application to Ofcom to broadcast full-time in the town.

ROYAL BRITISH LEGION: The next meeting of the Hailsham and District Branch Royal British Legion is to take place on Tuesday at the Hailsham Club, Vicarage Fields at 7.30pm. All serving and ex service personnel, dependants and members of the public are cordially invited to attend. You need not have served in the Armed Forces to become a member of the Royal British Legion. There will be entertainment following the meeting, as to what Mike has in store for us, we await with abated breath. At the March meeting it was rather hectic going through the agenda, but one made it as the poppy organiser and branch chairman, Mike Weller had invited many organisations to receive certificates for the outstanding work they had done in assisting during the Poppy Appeal, in one case, Peter Appleby, a Legion member had completed 40 years. Betty Gates, Legion Member has completed 30 years. Many organisations have chalked up 25 years and the Hailsham and District Branch is most appreciative of their continued support and of course the valued support of the residents of Hailsham and surrounding villages.
