APPOINTMENTS: Trying to get through to the Royal Sussex Hospital re an appointment is almost impossible. I tried for half an hour and had in the end to give up. The problem is, that if one fails to keep an appointment, one is then blamed and referred back to the local GP. Letters also seem to go astray. I have been accused of not turning up for appointments about which I had never received any communication by other NHS units. What is going on one wonders?

WEEKEND WORKING: When I worked in the computer industry, one usually had to work one weekend in four and often more if people were sick or other deadlines had to be reached. We were given a day off in the week to compensate for this. Why is this not the case in other forms of employment? Surely a rota system such as this could be used in hospitals so that no-one, doctor or patient, would then suffer?

NATURE: How amazing that plants and trees, seemingly dormant, can spring into a flurry of leaves and flowers overnight following an increase in warmth and a small shower of rain. At last, one feels that spring is no longer waiting in the wings, and her first long awaited entrance on stage has begun.
