MAY FAIR: Tomorrow, Saturday, starting at noon until 4pm will be taking place in Bishopstone Village on the Egg (village green) behind St Andrews Church. There will be many stalls, games, scarecrow making, raffle, tombola. May Pole Dancing at 1pm and music from the Lewes, Glynde and Beddingham Band at 2pm. Bacon rolls and cream teas are available and lots more.

SEAFORD CHORAL SOCIETY: Spring Concert tomorrow, Saturday, at St Leonard’s Church, Church Street starting from 7.30pm. Music will be Mozart, Mass in C Minor K427, Vaughn Williams Benedicite. Tickets £12, £15 are available from Newberry Tully Estate Agent, 53 Church Street.

EAST BLATCHINGTON LECTURES: A local clergyman who is about to have his seventh book published will be talking about it in this popular series of lectures. He is Canon Dr Andrew Mayes who is the Rector of St Peter’s Church Blatchington Road and is calling he talk Mixing Metaphors, marking the publication of the new book Learning the Language of the Soul.

He explains that while we are usually never lost for words we can be strangely tongue-tied when it comes to describing our inner spiritual life. He will help us explore a range of starting metaphors, ancient and contemporary to help loosen our tongues.

Dr Meyes is an accomplished speaker and teacher and leavens his talks with an engaging humour. He will be talking next Tuesday at 2.30pm, St Peter’s Church, Belgrave Road. The event is open to all and tickets are £7 including refreshments from the church or Newberry Tully Estate Agent, Church Street.

SEAFORD BONFIRE SOCIETY: Are holding their open meeting on Thursday at 7.30pm. New members welcomed.

LUNCHTIME CONCERT: To be given by Soprano Mehreen Shah at St Leonard’s Church, Church Street on Saturday May 7 at 1pm. The concert lasts approximately an hour and has free admission with a retiring collection. Mehreen has been singing for 15 years and that time has participated in numerous concerts and venues. Mehreen gradulated from Bath Spa University in 2011 gaining the highest mark in her year for her final recital.

STAMP CLUB: Seaford District Stamp Club is holding its next meeting on May 11 at Cross Way Church, Steyne Road at 7.15pm for 7.30pm start. The speaker is Bob Larg talking on Nepal - India.
