The new cricket ground at Freshfields is a truly beautiful setting and is along Freshfield Lane, just north of The Sloop Inn. LEAD VOLUNTEERS SOUGHT: Do you fancy taking on a fulfilling volunteering role but are too busy to take on a regular commitment? Chailey Heritage Foundation are currently seeking individuals who would like to become Lead Volunteers, to attend community events on their behalf when they’re not able to. You can commit to as many or as few events as you like and you will be responsible for recruiting and managing your own volunteers to assist you on the day. For more information please visit www.chf.org.uk/leadvolunteers or email fundraising@chf.org.uk.

BONFIRE SOCIETY: The good news this year is the 50th Anniversary of Chailey Bonfire Society and on Saturday November 12 there will be an extra special celebration and what the society hope will be their best display ever. Please put the date in your diary now so as not to miss it. Also, please note that the society’s AGM will be held at the Reading Room on Wednesday August 31 at 8pm and the Christmas Party for older residents will be on Saturday December 3 at the village hall. The not so good, in fact really bad news is that regrettably the organising committee continues to diminish and following this year’s bonfire celebrations and the Christmas Party most of the committee are standing down which will make it impossible to continue. All roles need replacing; secretary, treasurer, fundraisers and of course those that plan, build and deliver the display. If you are prepared to do something to help this Society to continue please give Chris a call on 07867 822492 or email him at chris.farrow@ddicks.co.uk. The hard fact is that without new help there will be no Bonfire Celebrations in Chailey in 2017.The decision to continue, or not, is in your hands.
