Falmer

FLOWER FESTIVAL: The weekend was perfect for the flower festival, and many visitors came to see and vote for their favourite arrangements. The theme for this year was Leisure Time and there were many inventive titles, such as surfing with a large wave of blue flowers. At the end of the two days votes were counted and the winners were Angela Stannard in first place with her wonderful painting of flowers, second was a pretty and delicate display depicting gardening by Angela Walker third was Sue Barnes with a very intriguing display entitled bird watching. Well done to all the participants and to everyone who made the weekend such a great success.

CONCERT: Last concert at St Laurence’s this season: Nicola Grunbert and Judith Maddison ended the season for Falmer in wonderful style. Their magnificent duets were just stunning, the programme was entitled Dances Round the World beginning with Peter Warlock’s Capriol Suite and completing the programme with Lerner and Loewe’s ‘I Could Have Danced all Night from My Fair Lady, it was just wonderful.
