PARACHUTE JUMP: At last John Glover completed his jump on Wednesday November 9. John has been waiting since September hoping to jump at the weekend to allow his family to witness his jump, but sadly the weather did not favour his choice of day, changing the date was the right decision. John will be 90 next week and the jump was to mark this special birthday. He said it was exhilarating and would have no hesitation to doing it again. John has raised £1,500 for Cancer Research, well done John and many congratulations.

CHRISTMAS FAYRE: The Falmer Christmas Fayre will take place on Saturday and Sunday, November 21 and 22, 10.30am to 5pm and the standard of crafts will surely impress as they have done in past years. There will also be a cake stall and the sale of refreshments including soup to stave off that hunger.

CONCERT: Tomorrow, Saturday, at 5.30pm there will be a concert at St Laurence Church with Karen Rash playing Flute and Joe Ward on Piano, with music by Ibert, Dave Heath, Hoover and Dopler. At the previous concert held on November 7 to raise money for young musicians of Ghaza, to help bring them to Brighton for the Fringe in 2016, the sum they raised was £700. It was a great concert and I particularly enjoyed the accordion player, he was just amazing and when called back for an encore he played the Brahms Lullaby and the audience spontaneously began to hum, the accordion music went quieter and quieter until he stopped completely but the audience continued to the end, when the accordionist moved the bellows just like a sigh of air saying Ahh…. Quite moving.

KNITTING: I enjoy talking to people, and renowned for embarrassing my family, on the bus last week an elderly lady whom I had seen before, got on with her shopping trolley and I guessed where she was going, to her knitting group at C&H on the Western Road. I asked her what she was knitting and she showed me, little woolly bobble hats for the fruit drink bottles of Innocence. For each bottle that is sold 25p goes to charity. The elderly lady said that last year she made 60 little hats. I was very impressed.

OPEN MORNING: The Singing Tree Kindergarten, in the Parish Hall, have an open morning coming up on November 24 at 9.30am. To book, either by go to the Facebook page (called Singing Tree Kindergarten) and following the instructions there, or by texting their name and their child’s name plus a mobile number and email address to the Kindergarten mobile 0744 3901560.
