ADVENT: It really feels as though Christmas is fast approaching, no I don’t mean because the shops are full of Christmas gifts, food and decorations but because we had our Advent Carol service last Sunday. It was a beautiful service of Advent carols and readings. We started in darkness, just lit by the candles that were handed out as we arrived. I am very excited about this Christmas as I will have all the family with me and I will be able to bring my little granddaughter to the Christingle service at St Laurence on Christmas Eve.

WEBSITE: St Laurence Church has a brand new website. It will keep you up to date with all the information you need to know about the church and all of the services, music, arts, Flower Festival and all our other special events. It has only just gone live - do have a look www.stanmerwithfalmer.com Many thanks to Fr Colin Lawlor and Jamie Watson for working so hard to set it up. We will still be using our Facebook pages (St Laurence Falmer, Falmer Concerts and Art and Soul at Falmer) to keep you up to date too.

CONCERT: Our next concert Shepherds Arise will be taking place on December 18 at the earlier than usual time of 2.30pm. This will include traditional Christmas songs and carols and even a Mummers Play, I am looking forward to it.

NEXT YEAR: Not only am I looking forward to Christmas but I am also looking further ahead to next year’s Easter exhibition. The theme next year will be tied to our 200th anniversary of the present church building and the title will be Sacred Space. We are hoping to have lots of great artwork and poetry for people to enjoy.
