Come join us: at St Laurence Church, Falmer to the University of Brighton Carol Service on 14th December at 5 pm and then afterwards in the village hall for mince pies and mulled wine.

Old Sussex Carols: On Saturday 18th December at 2.30pm. in St Laurence Church to listen to a feast of Shepherds Arise! Old Sussex Carols from Church Manuscript Books and Oral Tradition. Tunes and Readings from Sussex Sources. Sussex Mummers Play, Voices, flute, clarinet, fiddle, concertinas, bassoon and serpent. The Shepherds Arise! Quire and Band directed by Stuart Walker, there will be a retiring collection. Come early to get a seat.

At the Parish Council Meeting: last week the Chairman reported on the correspondence between Brighton Bus Company and Highways England. It all sounded very petty, ‘we brought the lay by up’ – ‘No you did not’ in the end Highways England capitulated. They are now saying that the design for the new lay by will probably be ready to be perused in February. We look forward to a progress step forward.

Calendars: are now on sale with pictures of Falmer present and Falmer past, can be purchased from the church for £5.

Now we are again a House with a view: to our great delight the new owners, who have purchased the Park Farm field have had the leylandii trees felled. The view has always been there, but over the 50 years we have been in Falmer the trees have taken it away, and now it is back, it is just wonderful.
