As a local Lewes Councillor in Bridge Ward and a committee member of Malling Community Association I was doubly pleased to read in last week’s Sussex Express (dated 1/2/13) about the re-opening of the nursery in Morris Road, Cliffe, and the future opening of the East Sussex County Council Childcare Centre within Malling Community Centre, Spences Lane.
Firstly, I’d like to wish Geraldine and her team the best of luck with her new venture at Stepping Stones, as I know how dependent 43 families were of the nursery before it closed down towards the end of 2012.
From using the nursery when my children were smaller, I’d also like to thank the staff for doing a great job in the past and wish them well in the future. I managed to have a look around the centre last week when it opened and it looks great. Please do find a chance to check out Stepping Stones and support this great new local business.
Secondly, it is brilliant that ESCC have seen the potential that Malling Community Centre has for the residents it serves throughout Lewes and beyond, and I look forward to the opening of new childcare services later this year. This new childcare centre will also greatly complement the pre-school that Christine runs within Malling Community Centre. Recognition should also be paid to members of Malling Community Association, Lewes Town Council and ESCC for this successful collaboration, and their hard work in ensuring that the Community Centre has a brighter future for the residents it serves.
