HEATHFIELD AND DISTRICT HISTORY SOCIETY: Members who remember what life was like in the 1940’s and 1950’s went down memory lane along with Mrs. Pam Vieler whose talk “Memories after the War” brought smiles of recognition. Using photographs and artefacts Mrs. Vielerbased her talk on her own family’s experiences in Eastbourne between 1940 and 1960 when dad was away at war and mum was left to run the family and cope with wartime privations. For members it was most entertaining but without doubt the memory which caused the most mirth was the knitted bathing costume!

Back to the seaside next month when Ian Gledhill will talk about “Mr. Volk and his Amazing Electric Railways” We meet again on Thursday, October 15th at 7.30pm in the Community Centre. All are welcome.
