CHURCH SERVICES: The All Saints Service is a 9.45am Family Service and the next service at St Mary Magdalene is on Sunday at 8am Holy Communion (BCP) and 6pm Evensong (BCP).

Herstmonceux: Has now received the tea towels, designed by Geoff Pickering, for Herstmonceux and Wartling Parish. At the moment, they are available in Lime Cross Nursery and the Information Centre in Herstmonceux Village and the church. They are £4.50 each and extremely nice. All profits will go towards the renovation of the church. Pam is also still gathering recipes and handy hints for a booklet, profits to be equally divided between both churches. These are coming in really slowly. Come on let’s have a few more and make this booklet really something for the villages to be proud of. Contributions can be sent, emailed or given to Pam at 3 School House, Windmill Hill, BN27 4RU or email pamwartling@tiscali.co.uk or ring for collection on 01323 833079.

DR SHILLITO MEMORIAL: At the Wartling Summer Fair in August there was a short ceremony to unveil a small frame with photographs of Dr Lancelot Shillito and his wife Sybil and some additional information on the doctor by the niece of the Shillitoes, Mrs Anthea Post. The wording in the frame is: ‘This window commemorates Dr Lancelot Shillito MA.MB.CH 1903-1937 formerly of The Limes, Boreham Street. He was Physician 1929-37 in partnership with Dr C W R Banham, and was churchwarden 1930-37. The elder son of Rev Arthur Shillito of Blofield, Norfolk, he studied at Selwyn College, Cambridge and St Thomas’s Hospital, London. Dr Shillito and his wife Sybil Mary (neé McEldowney), are both buried in the churchyard overlooking Pevensey Levels.’
