PARISH MATTERS: To many, I suspect the big majority, folk consider parochial church meetings as something of an anachronism, a gathering where an ever-dwindling congregation meets to conduct essential business. But look under the top layer and maybe there’s something a bit more on offer. Tuesday sees the annual meeting of Isfield parish church’s meeting, and as well as electing two churchwardens, and hearing of the church’s accounts and various reports, there’s an opportunity for everyone who lives in the parish to go along and discover what St Margaret’s has to offer the village. Isfield Village Hall at 7pm is the place and time to be if interested. All parishioners are entitled to attend providing they are on the electoral roll. Any doubts about that, give Cariena Cartwright a call on 01825 750749 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for assistance.
CHURCH SERVICES: St Margaret’s, Isfield (10am): First Sunday of the month, Holy Communion; second, Matins; third, Holy Communion; fourth, Family; fifth, Holy Communion. St Michael’s, Little Horsted: First Sunday, Communion (11am); second, Holy Communion, Book of Common Prayer (8am); third, Family service, (11am); fourth and fifth, Holy Communion, Book of Common Prayer (8am).
MED MENU: Laughing Fish chefs Benson and Henry are taking diners to the Mediterranean for the pub’s next specials night (April 28). Among the starters planned are Sharba (lamb and orzo pasta soup) from Libya and onion and anchovy pastizzi (a traditional Maltese pasty), while main courses will include lamb shank and olive casserole (Lebanon) and stuffed baked mackerel (Turkey). Reservations recommended (01825 750349).
