FOOTPATHS GROUP: The Footpaths Group’s most recent stroll was a three mile round trip from Rodmell. After taking the bridleway to the riverbank the walkers decided to take the tow-path southwards to Southease bridge rather than the parallel section of the Egrets Way completed last year. A walk along the minor road to Southease and then back to Rodmell on the licensed path that avoids walking on the C7 road completed the stroll. Instead of the traditional coffee stop the walkers were able to pick and eat blackberries at a number of locations. Fortunately the rain held off for the walk but it had started in earnest by the time the walkers came home.

Our next walk is on Wednesday, Littleworth, a mainly flat walk of five miles. Meet at top North Street car park at 9.30am.

SOUTHOVER CHURCH: (One of the Trinity churches): Tomorrow, Saturday, and Sunday our chapter house art group will be holding an exhibition from 11am to 5pm at Castle Lodge, Castle Banks, with tea and cake served by Lewes Neville WI. Do visit the exhibition and support the group’s charities Shelter and Southover Community Care (Trinity’s own care agency). Our next Alpha course starts on Thursday, a great opportunity to explore the basics of Christianity. For more information contact our rector Steve Daughtery (01273 472018). If you missed out on being baptised we are having a baptism service in October and Steve would love to hear from you. On September 20 all the congregations from Southover and South Malling will join everyone at St John sub Castro at 10.30am to celebrate the transfer there of our congregation which presently meets in Southover church hall. The service will be followed by a bring your own picnic and we hope the new café will be in operation too. We are cancelling all other services in our three churches that day. Services this Sunday: 8am communion (prayer book); 10am family service, a blend of traditional and contemporary, with choir, organ and band; 11.15am family service in the church hall; 6.30pm informal communion service with singers and band. Please join us.
