SOUTH MALLING SCHOOL: With one week of this term left until the Christmas holidays, the school is getting very busy with all things festive. Carol singing at Tesco: The Head says: ‘Come and join our Choir on Tuesday at 2.15pm to 3.15pm as they entertain the shoppers at Tesco with their wonderful singing.’ Christmas Church Service: On Thursday the children will be attending their Christmas Service in South Malling Church. Also on Thursday, The Friends’ Christmas Treat: when the Friends (PTA) provide a treat for the children. This year they will be having an entertainer who performs magic and tells lots of jokes. Finally, on Friday December 18, there is a School Talent Show and all the children are invited to audition in their own classes. If a child has a talent they would love to share (eg dancing, singing, telling jokes, performing magic tricks, etc.) they are encouraged to practise and join in! Each class chooses two acts to go forward to the show. Who will be the winners of the 2015 show?
SOUTH MALLING CHURCH: (One of the Trinity churches). On Sunday there is the Carol Service at 6.30pm, a popular occasion at Malling and a good sing, ending with mulled wine and mince pies. Do come and get into the real spirit of Christmas with friends and neighbours in a pleasing, calm and hallowed venue lit by candles and scented with a faint smell of mulling wine and warming herbs. It is not surprising that many stay behind after the relatively short service to chat with neighbours and enjoy the atmosphere. In the morning on Sunday is the usual, relaxed Family Service led by Peter Crees with Children, Schools and Families Minister, Neil Chisnall. The service begins at 9.30am. Neil is anxious for children to make a note of the Christmas Crafts Session in church on the following Saturday, December 19, from 10am to noon and to come and enjoy the fun.
