Malling

SOUTH MALLING CHURCH: Last Sunday’s Carol Service began the Christmas season for the church with a really good sing, supported by a developing choir who helped set the framework for the congregation, adding touches of their own to give variety. The church has been decorated and looks beautiful. Yesterday (Thursday) children from South Malling Church of England School attended the church for their annual Christmas Service. During the last few weeks, work has been done to improve the state of the lane. The church is really grateful to two members of the congregation who have filled in most of the potholes and to residents of Church Lane who provided some of the tarmac. Also to Lewes District Council who have cut back undergrowth and removed earth, which was encroaching on the road in places. However, it remains a country lane which is uneven in patches, so anyone walking along it needs to pay attention to where they are putting their feet.

Tomorrow, Saturday, there is a Christmas Craft Morning for children of infant and junior age in church, between 10am and noon, this is a very popular event. On Sunday, there is a Communion Service beginning at 9.30am.

Christmas Services at the church next week include, on Christmas Eve the very popular Crib Service at 3.30pm and a midnight Communion starting at 11pm. On Christmas morning, at 9.30am there is an informal, enjoyable Christmas Family Service with carols. Everyone is welcome. It is a short service which gives us all an opportunity to touch base with the real meaning of Christmas before getting stuck into its festivities. On Sunday December 27, there will be a joint service for the three Trinity Churches in Southover Church at 10.30am. As ever, all are welcome.
