SOUTH MALLING SCHOOL: is holding our first Science Fair this Friday (20th). Parents and friends are invited to come into school for an Open Afternoon to see all the wonderful work the children have been doing as part of this term’s ‘Our Natural World’ topic. In addition to the work in classes, there will also be a Science Fair in the Hall. Each class will have a stall celebrating their science learning this term.

Next week: is the last week before the May Half term break. On Thursday 26th the Friends of South Malling will be holding the annual Fun Run in which the children get sponsorship for the laps they run around the school field. This is always a fun event that improves the children’s fitness and raises money for the school. The Friends will be serving refreshments during the afternoon. Let’s hope the weather is kind to us!

SOUTH MALLING CHURCH: will be celebrating the beginning of the TRINITY season with a breakfast and band service this coming Sunday. Breakfast services begin at 9 a.m. and the breakfast part of it ends at 9.30 when the service begins. There is no cost — the breakfast is an opportunity to chat and get to know people. If you don’t want breakfast, come for 9.30 when the service proper starts. It is a fairly informal service of Morning Praise. The speaker will be the Associate Vicar, Revd Jeremy Bamber. All are welcome. In the church year, TRINITY is the last and longest season, taking the church up to mid November. The first part of the year focusses on the birth and ministry of Jesus ending with his death, resurrection, and the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. Trinity season focusses on the work of the church in the world, which is really about its growth and its ability to persuade others that Christ is God, and that God is Love and continues to be a pattern for us to live by and a source of creativity and strength — someone at least to turn to in times of need and to thank when the universe seems to bless us.
