SOUTH MALLING SCHOOL: Has started 2017 well, with lots of exciting events as they begin their Learning Journey that focuses on enterprise, the world of work, maths and design technology and ends with an Enterprise Fair, where the children will sell the products they have made to their parents and family. Alongside the Enterprise theme, the school will be working on the value of perseverance and learning how important it is not to give up when something is tricky. The Head says, '˜To help us understand about the world of work, we are inviting parents, friends and local community members to come and tell us about their jobs and explain to the children what each of them needed to do to get their jobs. On Friday we are having a BE assembly where the children will be dressing up as what they want to be when they are grown up.' The NSPCC is also visiting the school this week and they are taking part in a fundraising activity that will help the children gain the knowledge and understanding they need to stay safe.

SOUTH MALLING CHURCH: Enjoyed last week’s Communion Service with Revd Steve Daughtery. With the other two Trinity churches, they have begun a teaching series that looks at Jesus’ parables, focussing last week on the parable of the two debtors who are released from their debt by a gracious lender. This Sunday’s service will focus on the parable of the Good Samaritan. It is Morning Praise, a fairly informal service, led by the band and begins at 9.30am. All are welcome.

TENANTS AND RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION: The Tenants and Residents Association apologise for cancelling their meeting two weeks ago, and hope that no one was inconvenienced. The meeting will now take place on this coming Monday, at 7pm in the Community Centre. All are welcome. Since parking is such a big issue, we expect the current local authority proposal about parking restrictions (which closes for comment on January 29) will be on the agenda.
