COUNTRY MARKET: Newick Country Market will be open from 10am to 11am in the village hall today, Friday. There is a good selection of homemade cakes and savoury pies. There will be some bedding plants for sale if you have spare place in your garden, tea and coffee are always available. Just make sure you arrive early as certain item sell out quickly.
DIGITAL INCLUSION: Newick Community Centre is Hosting Digital Inclusion today, Friday, from noon till 2pm. East Sussex County Council is funding support for members of our community who are unsure about computers and how they work. There is no need to book just turn up. This is a great opportunity to get more confident in using the internet and to learn how computers can help support our everyday lives and its free, plus some light refreshments.
BOWLS: Tomorrow, Saturday, the bowls club will travel to Seaford, this game will start at 2pm. Tuesday’s evening games are Mid-Sussex v Southwater away, the second match, John Spriggs v Uckfield, will be played at home. Both games commence at 6pm. On Wednesday afternoon there will be another match against Croworough Wolfe at home at 2.30pm
CRICKET: Tomorrow, Saturday, the first XI will be playing at home against Lewes St Michaels, the second XI will travel to Hailsham, the third XI are also playing away at Seaford III, the fourth XI will be playing at Temple Grove the match being against Seaford IV. All these league matches will start at 1.30pm. Sunday is the President’s Day and the match will comment 2pm.
CHURCH SERVICES: There will be a service of Holy Communion at 8am, the 10.30am service will take place on the Green. A simple breakfast will be served in the Community Centre from 9.30am, there will also be light refreshments after the service at 11.30am. Everyone is welcome. We need to pray for a lovely warm Sunday.
AFTERNOON CLUB: Newick Afternoon Club will be meeting tomorrow, Saturday, at 10am in the Community Centre. Yes it’s that time again for the Newick Leveller Gooseberry Competition. There are no entry forms or charges, the classes are as follows
Single Leveller, Group of 6 Levellers, Punnet (1lb) of Levellers, Single Gooseberry Punnet of Gooseberries (1lb), pot of Gooseberry Jam, and wait for it the most delicious gooseberry desert. All entries must be staged by 10am. For further information please telephone 01825 722154.
