You ask what I think of your “new look”, the answer is that if it continues in the same manner, after 50 continuous years of buying it I doubt if I will continue to do so for much longer.
For instance in last week’s edition (November 2nd) the so-called local edition for “Newhaven, Seaford, Peacehaven, Telscombe, Alfriston” edition consisted of 80 pages of which Newhaven content totalled about two and a half pages made up of: part of Page 1 and part of Page 2 about the water park (total one page). The Parish pump on page 29 (about 20 per cent of a page), Peter Bailey’s article (about 25 per cent of a page which was hidden way back on page 51, there were two “letters to the editor” from Newhaven residents and half a page about the S. Heighton Bonfire which hadn’t taken place. So a total of 2.5 pages of content out of 80 pages for Newhaven, Seaford, Peacehaven, Telscombe, Alfriston can hardly honestly be called a “local” publication can it? Especially as in the same edition there were 11 pages about Lewes bonfire which hadn’t even taken place, half a page about Hailsham, items about Crowborough, Uckfield and so on and so on.
All I know is, if the publication continues in this vein, here is one longstanding customer who won’t be any longer.
