FOOTBALL CLUB: There is plenty of football action at The Caburn this coming week, starting tonight (Friday) with a friendly match between our second and third teams with a 7.30pm kick off time. Tomorrow, Saturday, the first team host Crowhurst FC with a 3pm kick off at the Caburn and on Tuesday evening they take on AFC Ringmer. On Thursday, Ryman South team Walton and Hersham visit the Caburn for a friendly match with a 7.45pm kick off time. Fund raising has started for the defibrillator project, for use at the club and in the wider community, and fund raising events including a quiz night are being organised. A bespoke e-mail address has been set up for anyone wishing to contribute to the fund raising, join the goal sponsorship or the 100 Club and this is defibproject@ringmerfc.co.uk

ST MARY’S CHURCH: Sunday’s services: 8am Holy Communion, 9.45am Sung Eucharist, 6.30pm Evensong. Every Wednesday at 9am Holy Communion (Common Worship) led by Revd Beth Woodgate. Mother’s Union Coffee Morning: Saturday August 1, 10am to noon in the church and church room. Admission £1 to include coffee and biscuits. Raffle, bring and buy, cake stalls and a children’s area. Come and find out more about the work of the MU. All proceeds towards MU projects in Sussex. Teddy Bear Service: Bring your bear to church on Sunday August 2. The all-age service starts at 9.45am and will be a celebration of our closest friends. More details next week.

BRIDGE CLUB: At its meeting on Wednesday July 15, the result of the duplicate pairs played was: 1, Pam Brook and John Weston; 2, Frances McGuckin and Alan Grindley; 3, Dianne and Mike Preece. The club next meets in the St Mary’s room of the village hall on Wednesday at 7.30pm. Contact 814220.
