ST MARY’S CHURCH: Sunday is Harvest Festival at St Mary’s. As well as 8am Holy Communion, we celebrate the Harvest at the 9.45am Family Service. Everyone is welcome as we join together in thanksgiving and celebration. The Saturday Club meets again tomorrow, Saturday, from 10am to noon in the Church Room. The theme will be harvest thanksgiving and is open to all primary school children. On Wednesday, The Revd Beth Woodgate invites you to take Communion at 9am, an Oasis in the middle of the week.

COUNTRY MARKET: Please remember the Country Market which takes place in the village hall each Tuesday from 10am to 11am. Everything on sale is homemade, home grown or hand crafted. It is possible to order a week or more in advance if you would like something specially made and hampers can be made up to any value that you would like and the contents tailored to suit the recipient.

WI: The next WI meeting is on Tuesday at 7.30pm in Ringmer Village Hall. The speaker is Shirley Jaffe and the title of her talk is Grandmother’s Footsteps. The Castle Group meeting is on October 28 in Chidingly Village Hall when Michael Blencowe will talk about the Sussex Wildlife Trust. The next visit of the WI Theatre Group is on October 12. Guests and new members are welcomed.

FLOWER CLUB: Meeting on Wednesday at 2pm in the village hall. The title of Jan Mason’s demonstration is Season’s Bounty. Visitors are most welcome, £4 to include refreshments. The competition title for members who wish to enter is Autumn Glory, a foliage arrangement featuring berries.

BRIDGE CLUB: At its meeting on Wednesday September 23, the result of the duplicate pairs played was: 1, Joan Evett and Sandra Dudley-Williams; 2, Frank Hibbert and George Montgomery; Joint 3, Liz and Tim Owen, Barrie Smith and John Weston. The club next meets in the St. Mary’s room of the village hall on Wednesday at 7.30pm. Contact 814220.

OBOE DUO: Elen Morgan Williams and Caitlin Heathcote, both superb young oboists from the Purcell School, accompanied by Ian Morgan Williams, Director of Music at Lancing College, will be giving a concert at St Mary’s church on Sunday October 11 at 3pm. There will be a wide variety of music for oboes and piano from classical to folk, with homemade cakes and refreshments afterwards. Entrance is free, with donations to Commonwealth Resounds Trust for young musicians, and St Peter and St James Hospice.

NEARLY NEW SALE: Tiddlers and Toddlers playgroup are holding a Nearly New Sale on Saturday October 17 in Ringmer Village Hall from 10.30am to noon. We are selling Children’s Clothes and Equipment age 0 to 5 years including pushchairs, cots, highchairs, clothes, books, DVDs, toys and much more. Everything you need when having, raising or minding a little one. Tea and cakes also available, please come along and support our group, thanks.
