NEARLY NEW SALE: Ringmer Primary School are holding a Nearly New Sale of all things children tomorrow (Saturday) at 10.30am until noon. It is to be similar to the very successful NCT sale and Tiddlers and Toddlers Sales but for children age 4 years and upwards. We will be selling clothes, books, shoes, toys, bikes, computer games, uniforms, scooters and small items of furniture, in fact anything to do with children. Sellers must register before the sale and there is a limited number of places. We would welcome any good quality donations please and can collect locally.
JUMBLE SALE: Tomorrow (Saturday) at 2pm in the village hall. Please take jumble to the hall, preferably between 10am and 11am on the day.
FOOTBALL CLUB: The defibrillator has now arrived and is available for use in the club and the wider community but let’s hope that it will not be needed. Many thanks to all those who contributed to the fund raising efforts. On the football front, this Saturday the first team are at home to Southwick in a SCFL Div 1 fixture with a 3pm kick-off at The Caburn. Meanwhile the seconds travel to Steyning Town for a league fixture also with a 3pm kick-off. On Monday evening the third team are at home to Hartfield seconds in a MSFL Div 10 fixture and kick-off is at 7.30pm. On Tuesday evening the first team have another league fixture away to Crawley Down Gatwick and kick-off time as 7.30pm.
ST MARY’S CHURCH: This Sunday at St Mary’s: 8am Holy Communion, 9.45am Sung Eucharist with Laying on of Hands for Healing, 6.30pm Evensong. On Saturday, there will be another popular Ladies’ Breakfast with a delicious spread and excellent speaker. If you would like to come contact Joan Evett 01273 812075. St Mary’s Men’s Club meets again at 7.30pm on Tuesday 13 in the Church Room. New members and visitors always welcome.
OBOE DUO: Elen Morgan Williams and Caitlin Heathcote, both superb young oboists from the Purcell School, accompanied by Ian Morgan Williams, Director of Music at Lancing College, will be giving a concert at St Mary’s church on Sunday at 3pm. There will be a wide variety of music for oboes and piano from classical to folk, with homemade cakes and refreshments afterwards. Entrance is free, with donations to Commonwealth Resounds Trust for young musicians, and St Peter and St James Hospice.
BRIDGE CLUB: At its meeting on Wednesday September 30, the result of the duplicate pairs played was: 1, Alan Grindley and Barry Smith; joint 2, Joan Evett and Sandra Dudley-Williams, Dianne and Mike Preece. The club next meets in the St Mary’s room of the village hall on Wednesday at 7.30pm. Contact 814220.
