MACMILLAN GARDEN TRAIL: Tomorrow, Saturday, and Sunday the trail covers various locations from Brighton to Eastbourne with the official opening at Driftwood, 4 Marine Drive by Christine Walkden at 11am tomorrow. The trail includes three Seaford Gardens and there is a shuttle bus service from The Buckle Car Park, Marine Parade to Driftwood, Marine Drive because of very limited parking. MAN ON THE RUN: This is at The Martello Fields on Sunday starting at 11am for a 5k charity run for men and boys in aid of Cancer Research UK. Entry fee £12 for adults, £6 for under 18’s. Enter at www.manontherun.org or just come along and support them.

ST ANDREW’S CHURCH FETE: The fete at Bishopstone is on Saturday August 1 from noon until 4pm. This popular traditional event is held in beautiful country setting of
Bishopstone Village, there will be light lunches and teas together with games, raffle, tombola, plants, bric-a-brac, books and many others. Also a Fun Dog Show where you have to register from 1pm to 1.50pm. Good parking.
SERVICE OF REMEMBRANCE: A short open air service is for anyone who would like to remember their loved ones buried in St. Andrew’s Churchyard, Bishopstone for a feeling of tranquility and spiritual peace. Everyone welcome with refreshments in the hall afterwards.
SIMON PARKE: Simon is the next person to give a talk at St Peter’s Church, Belgrave Road on Tuesday August 4 at 2.30pm as part of The East Blatchington Lectures. Simon has had a varied life after 20 years of being a priest and now a writer. He has written columns for the Daily Mail and a weekly supermarket diary Shelf Life. Other books by Simon Parke include Forsaking the Family which is a refreshing look at family life and The Beautiful Life which offers ten new commandments because life could be better. He has also written comedy and satire for TV and radio picking up a Sony Radio Reward. Tickets are available from Newberry Tully Estate Agent, Church Street at £7 including refreshments.
