CRICKET WIN :Glad tidings on the Waldron Cricket Club front. The Club has been granted £1000 from a fund by Waitrose (current sponsors of the national team) to encourage the grass-roots of the game. After much form-filling and vetting by both the Sussex County Cricket Club and the English Cricket Board the village club was awarded the grant to buy a high quality wicket cover. This has now been purchased and has rescued several recent games from cancellation through the torrential downpours so familiar to us all this sodden summer. (Yes, I did spell that correctly...)

NHW: An early reminder about the date of the annual meeting of Neighbourhood Watch. This will take place on 8th of October at the Lucas Hall as usual.

POST OFFICE: I give up. I understand that it has now been decided that the tin shack in the car park next to the Fire Station will not be suitable for use as a temporary post office for poor Heathfield because the powers-that-be cannot work out how to level it up. It’s official, folks, we can put a man on the moon but can’t level up a tin box. You couldn’t make it up, could you?

SERVICES: This weekend’s Sunday services will both be at St Bartholomew’s and will take place at 8.00 am (Holy Communion) and 10.00 am (Parish Eucharist) followed by coffee. Next week (4th October) will be Harvest Festival at All Saints’ and will be followed by a parish lunch. More details next week.
