REMEMBRANCE: On Armistice Day (Friday November 11), there were 110 attendees at the service at St Bartholomew’s. Two days later the parish’s Remembrance Sunday service began at 10.45 am so that the names of the village’s men who died in two World Wars could be read before the two minutes’ silence at 11am. Afterwards the congregation gathered at the War Memorial for the laying of wreaths (at midday). Once again there was a substantial congregation for this solemn service.
PHOTOGRAPHIC EXHIBITION: The exhibition will be held at All Saints’ Church until tomorrow, Saturday, and there will be a reception with bar and refreshments from 4pm to 7pm tomorrow. There are two categories, the first is open and of any subject and the second of local interest. Well over 100 photographs have been delivered to Richard Fanshawe who is organising the exhibition.
SINGING FOR FUN: The trial run of a Singing For Fun group attracted 28 people and lots of enthusiasm a couple of weeks ago. The next meeting will be on Monday and again it will be for everyone who’d like to sing and will include well-known favourite songs. Venue is the Cross in Hand Methodist Church at the top of Firgrove Road, with car parking just down below the church on the opposite side of the road. There will be refreshments afterwards, and there will be a small charge to cover expenditure. Details from 01435 863581.
NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH: The annual meeting of Waldron residents’ NW group will be on Friday November 25 at the Lucas Hall at 7.30pm. Our Member of Parliament Nus Ghani will attend.
