VALENTINE’S DAY: Ask at the pub to see a copy of the Valentine’s Day menu prepared for your romantic evening out on Tuesday. The starters look especially interesting with a Bloody Mary jelly to go with the tuna carpaccio, which sounds as if you might have had a pre-dinner fist-fight with your best beloved, but perhaps that’s just getting with the pink theme? Ring 01435 812495 to book your table. The three-course special costs £25 per head.
WHAT’S NEXT?: The group String Theory (string-driven swing) is performing on Sunday February 19 from about 12.30pm at the Star and the next Pub Quiz Night will be on Monday February 27. The usual arrangements apply, with maximum six people per team and £8 per head including supper.
COUNTRY MARKET: Waldron’s Country Market next takes place on Thursday at Holy Cross Priory where it seems to have taken on a new lease of life. Timing is from 11am until 1pm.
DAY OF PRAYER: Early warning that the annual Women’s World Day of prayer is planned for March 3. More details to come.
SERVICES: This weekend’s services (on Sunday) are both at St Bartholomew’s at 8am for Holy Communion and at 10am for Parish Eucharist followed by refreshments. The preacher will be George Pitcher.
