COFFEE MORNING: Tomorrow (Saturday) there will be a church fund-raising social coffee morning at Burnt Oak House, Burnt Oak Lane, by kind invitation of Tim and Gail Williams. If anyone feels they can help by serving coffee, making cakes, donating raffle prizes or just giving a hand, please contact Rosemary Kay on 01435 812959. Next month’s event will be on Saturday May 20.

COUNTRY MARKET: This month’s Country Market will take place next Thursday at Holy Cross Priory.

LILIES TO REMEMBER: Every Easter All Saints’ is dressed with lilies, donated by members of the congregation in memory of a loved family member or friend. If you have someone to commemorate and would like to make a donation in his or her name contact Jane Leney on 01435 867424. Cheques can be made out to All Saints’ Flower Fund.

LYCHGATE REPAIRS: The roof repairs for our beautiful lychgate are pretty well complete and it should be in full working order before Easter.

EASTER FAMILY FUN: An Easter Family Fun Day will be held on April 15 at the Hardy Roberts Recreation Ground, Cross in Hand from 10am, organised by the Heathfield and Waldron Rugby Club. All kinds of entertainments are promised as well as barbecue, cakes, crepes, Zorb football and lots more.

SERVICES: This Sunday is Palm Sunday and services will be held at St Bartholomew’s. Holy Communion is at 8am and the President and Preacher will be Paul Cox. There will be a procession with palms starting from the car park at 9.50am for Parish Eucharist at 10am and George will be President with the Passion Gospel. Refreshments will follow the service.

HOLY WEEK: On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Compline will be said at St Bart’s at 7pm. On Thursday evening Haggadah will be held at All Saints’ at 6.30pm, a parish supper followed by washing of feet, Communion, stripping the altar and a vigil. You can join in for as much or as little as you wish. On Good Friday there will be a service of contemplation at St Bart’s between noon and 1pm, followed by frugality and fasting at Culverwood from 1pm to 2pm and devotions at All Saints’ from 2pm till 3pm. On Sunday, Easter Day will be celebrated with Holy Communion and breakfast with the risen Christ at 8am at St Bart’s and the Easter Celebration with Eucharist at All Saints’ at 10am. Refreshments will follow.

STRING THEORY: On Easter Sunday String Theory will be playing from 12.30pm at The Star and there will also be an Easter Egg Hunt. If you’ve got your diary handy, you might like to note that on June 3 there will be a French-themed evening at the pub with Django Jazz entertaining and traditional French cuisine.
