On May 17 Ofsted arrived at the Young Haymakers’ Nursery and Montessori School in Waldron and by the end of the day judged the setting as ‘outstanding’ in all areas.

Organiser Karen Hathaway said: “We are absolutely delighted with the outcome.”

In their report the inspectors said: “The staff team are highly qualified and exceptionally skilled, which means that children greatly benefit in their learning ad the quality of their play.

“The nursery staff have an excellent understanding of how children learn and develop. They provide a highly effective curriculum which covers all areas of learning with interesting, challenging activities.

“Children are consistently absorbed in play that is of excellent quality, and they make exemplary progress as a result.”

Karen said Young Haymakers has been established in Waldron for many years and has been at its idyllic countryside setting for ten.

She said the outdoor area has recently been extended and provides allotments and plenty of areas for exploration, including a hide so children can watch visiting birds.

The grounds have also been designed to keep children safe and there are opportunities for role play.

Each child is allocated a key person who will be responsible for monitoring their progress and keeping records about the child in their care. Parents can look at their child’s rcord at any time - daily updates can even be made to meet the needs of each individual pupil.

The school’s website explains how its nursery programme is designed to capture children’s interest in a practical, hands-on way and make learning fun so it is an ideal preparation for school.

They adhere to the ‘statutory framework for early years foundation’ stage which outlines standards for learning, development and care for children from birth to the age of five.

Educational programmes involve communication and language, physical, personal and literary development plus maths which provides children with chances to develop and improve counting skills.

Young Haymakers Open day is tomorrow (Saturday) from 10am-2pm. Karen would be happy to see whole families should they want to visit and see what is on offer. Ring her on: 01435 812555.
