CAN YOU capture the beauty of the High Weald? Or the allure of the Sussex chalk cliffs?
Wealden District Council is looking for local photographers to take part in an exciting competition to help promote the District as a tourist destination and encourage new visitors to the area.
The Enjoy Sussex Partnership, which promotes local tourism, is running the competition – now in its fourth year – and welcomes amateur or professional photos which sum up the essence and character of this beautiful part of Sussex.
Pictures could be of landscape or coastal shots, images of colourful local events and traditions, people enjoying a family day out, or a lost moment amidst stunning local scenery. But the images must have been taken within the Enjoy Sussex area – the Wealden, Lewes, Mid Sussex and Horsham Districts (please check www.enjoysussex.info/maps for clarification).
The main prize of a £250 voucher for photographic equipment will be given to the most successful contributor. Last year’s winning cover photo features the Seven Sisters cliffs and a view of the Downs near Wilmington. Successful photos will appear in the 2012 Enjoy Sussex guide and on the website.
“The beauty and heritage of Wealden are amongst our greatest assets,” said Councillor Roy Galley, Cabinet member for Planning & Development. “There is often a surprise as you walk around the corner of a winding lane or glimpse a spectacular view through the trees.
“This competition provides a great opportunity for local photographers to showcase their work and help promote the local economy by encouraging new visitors to the area. This will be particularly important next year, 2012, when the Olympic spotlight will be on the nation.”
All successful photographers will have their images credited in the tourism marketing produced by the Partnership including the Enjoy Sussex Visitor Guide 2012 and the Enjoy Sussex website www.enjoysussex.info.
For further details and an application form please visit www.enjoysussex.info or email email@example.com. Closing date for entries is Monday 1st August 2011.
