WEALDEN MP Charles Hendry has welcomed news that Sussex Police have signed up to a new Charter for the use of CCTV.
In a statement, he said: “I welcome the announcement that Sussex Police have signed up to a new Charter that promises to use CCTV in a transparent and accountable way which will respect the rights of individuals.
“The coalition agreement stated we would further regulate CCTV and provision for this is made in the Protection of Freedoms Bill.
“A cornerstone of a free and confident society is the State’s duty to ensure that its citizens are sufficiently protected so that they are able to conduct their legitimate business in safety and security.
“This is positive news to people in Wealden who will now have their individual rights respected.”
