Wealden District Council has submitted its Strategic Sites Local Plan (SSLP) to the Planning Inspectorate for public examination.

The plan is part of the council’s Core Strategy which sets out housing for the Wealden district area and a vision for future development until 2027. The Strategic Sites Local Plan sets out in detail how the Strategic Development Areas proposed in the Core Strategy Local Plan should be developed.

The SSLP provides information, land allocations, site boundaries and detailed planning policies to deliver each of the strategic development areas identified in the adopted Core Strategy.

An independent planning inspector must look at all development plan documents that local authorities in England produce.

The Planning Inspectorate has now formally appointed an Inspector for the Examination - Mr M. Fox.

The precise date for the opening of any formal hearing, which is part of the examination, will be decided by the Inspector.

A spokesman for the council said: “The anticipated date by which the report will be produced will be announced at the last programmed session of the Examination itself. The Inspector may also decide to conduct a pre-examination meeting if he considers it appropriate. We anticipate that the hearing session will take place early this summer.

“We expect the hearing sessions into the Strategic Sites Local Plan will be held at the East Sussex National near Uckfield.”
