WINTER opening hours are now in place at the county’s Household Waste Recycling Sites, managed by Veolia Environmental Services in partnership with East Sussex County and Brighton and Hove City Council.
Eight of the recycling sites at Forest Row, Heathfield, Lewes, Maresfield, Mountfield, Newhaven, Seaford and Wadhurst in East Sussex are open to the public one hour earlier at 8am and close at 4pm Monday to Saturday. Sunday hours have also changed, with sites opening at 9am and closing at 4pm.
Opening times at the Crowborough and Eastbourne sites remain the same.
The Hailsham site will open 9am until 4pm Monday to Friday and 9am until 1pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
The winter opening times are in place to allow residents to make more use of the sites during daylight hours and to enable people who work from nine to five to do their recycling before work.
Martin Benson, HWRS Manager for Veolia Environmental Services, South Downs, said: “We aim to provide the best possible service to all our customers and changing to winter opening times will maximise opportunities for people to use the sites. We have also found that during the winter period there are very few visitors in the last hour of the day.
“We strive to be as consistent as possible and operate the same hours at each of our sites. However, at a few sites opening times will still vary. We would urge people to visit our website at www.veoliaenvironmentalservices.co.uk/southdowns/hwrs or call 08453 550550.”
