THE world of Manga – that’s Japanese comic books and cartoons – was revealed to students at Lewes Old Grammar School on Tuesday May 1.

The school hosted three Manga Workshops for selected Year 6, 7 and 9 youngsters.

Anna Fitzpatrick, a Manga artist/illustrator came to the senior school library to teach students techniques on how to create their own Manga character.

It’s a highly stylised art form – and also great fun.

All the students were excited by the project and created some fantastic artwork, which they could take away and develop at home.

Manga is read by all ages in Japan and covers a wide range of genres. This event was so popular that the students are already asking when the next one will be.
